* UltraShape Power: This FDA-cleared, noninvasive technology from Syneron Candela is used to contour targeted areas of a patient’s body—namely, the abdomen, thighs and flanks. Mind Your Skin is among the very first to acquire the “Power” version. UltraShape employs pulsed ultrasound to selectively destroy pockets of fat, without harming surrounding tissue, muscles or nerves. After the three-treatment protocol, patients experience a 32 percent reduction of fat in treated areas, according to Dr. Robben. UltraShape breaks down the walls of fat cells, thereby releasing the fat in the form of triglycerides, which are then eliminated from the body naturally. * Kybella: An FDA-approved injectable manufactured by Allergan, Kybella is a synthetic deoxycholic acid that aids in the breakdown and absorption of the dietary fat that contributes to “submental fullness,” otherwise known as a double chin. Like all the services offered by Dr. Robben, Kybella is a nonsurgical treatment, though patients are to expect temporary swelling, and some bruising and discomfort.
