More Room to Grow
Homebuyers, sellers, and Realtors adjust to the demands of a booming market.

Real estate used to be all about location, location, location, as well as school districts and taxes. It still is, but now more than ever prospective buyers are more discerning about certain selling points that weren’t quite as essential just a few years ago.
 
“COVID-19 is changing the way we do business,” says Mary Ann O’Keeffe, a RE/MAX Realtor who focuses primarily in the Bucks County neighborhoods of Newtown and Yardley. “The needs of people are different now, and the space that people need to live their lives is different.”
 
Three examples: Buyers seek rooms specifically for home schooling and home offices, as well as outdoor spaces such as pools, patios, and fireplaces.
 
“We’ve seen quite a few people change homes because their lives have changed,” O’Keeffe adds. “Office space is critical, and we’ve seen more people looking for pools and more outside spaces. Those things weren’t quite important a few years ago as they are now.”
 
Whereas many sectors of business have suffered in 2020, real estate is booming—and Realtors don’t see that trend reversing anytime soon. In other words, strike while the figurative iron is hot. It’s a seller’s market, of course, meaning buyers have to be patient, proactive, and flexible on terms.
 
A good Realtor can certainly help the process go smoothly. But how does one choose the “right” candidate from a field of very capable Realtors? Our readers are happy to offer their perspective.
