Growing Confidence
Dr. Earl Bryant uses the revolutionary NeoGraft Hair Restoration procedure to restore natural, permanent hair for men and women

Hair loss is a universal problem, one that can devastate the confidence and self-esteem of the men and women it affects.  But, according to Dr. Earl Bryant, it no longer has to be.

As founder of Physician Transformations LLC in Newtown Square, Dr. Bryant has built a flourishing medical aesthetics practice, offering a full range of services, from full-body liposculpting and CoolSculpting to laser facial rejuvenation procedures to Botox and dermal fillers. Earlier this year a new service was added to meet the needs of his patients: NeoGraft Hair Restoration.

NeoGraft Hair Restoration is a revolutionary procedure that uses an automated tool to precisely extract individual hair follicles from the donor site (known as “follicular unit extraction” or “FUE”) and transplant them to the desired area. There is no linear scarring, the downtime is minimal, and the results are natural and permanent.

As Dr. Bryant explains, “before FUE, hair follicles were harvested by cutting a strip out of a patient’s scalp, resulting in a large and obvious linear scar across the back of the patient’s head. Downtime was much more significant and patients could never wear their hair short without fear of revealing the tell-tale linear scar. With NeoGraft, there are no such fears.”

The NeoGraft process begins with a consultation to assess the cause of the hair loss and to ensure that the patient has a viable source of hair in the donor area to support the restoration they are looking to achieve. Assuming they are a good candidate, they can usually schedule their procedure within two to three weeks of their consultation.

The NeoGraft procedure is performed while the patient is awake; the patient receives an oral sedative to help them relax and the scalp is numbed with a numbing solution. The largely automated nature of the NeoGraft process enables the technicians to extract individual units of a patient’s own hair from a discrete area—usually the back of the head—and relocate the follicles to the desired area, which could include the hairline, the crown of the head, the eyebrows or any other area where a patient desires to have hair. The first part of the day is spent harvesting as many as 2,500 hair follicles per session from the donor site, and the second part of the day is spent transferring the follicles to the target site. The procedure can last anywhere from four to eight hours, depending on how many follicles are being placed.

“NeoGraft Hair Restoration provides exceptional results,” says Dr. Bryant, “and our patients have minimal, if any, discomfort during the procedure.  Patients will begin to see their new hair growth at approximately three months and will typically see significant hair growth between nine and twelve months.”

The hair growth that occurs as a result of the NeoGraft procedure is natural and permanent; patients can treat their new hair exactly the same as their pre-existing hair. “They can brush it, gel it, style it and wear it short or long,” explains Dr. Bryant.

In addition to focusing on hair restoration, Dr. Bryant continues to maintain his active body contouring and liposculpting practice. His eight years of experience in body sculpting and contouring provide his patients with very satisfying results.

“We have entered a new era in liposuction, where new technologies allow for even more remarkable results,” he says. “Gone are the days of simply removing the fat. Today's patients want greater accentuation of hips, more natural-looking thighs, contoured abdomens and waistlines and other body areas.”

Men suffering from male breasts (gynecomastia) have been especially happy with the results that Dr. Bryant has been able to achieve in sculpting their chests.

The face is no exception to this phenomenon.

“One of our most popular procedures is actually our No-Cut Chin Lift,” explains Dr. Bryant.  He uses Smartlipo and a single 1.5 millimeter pinhole incision to lift and tighten saggy skin around the neck and chin line. Patients are awake for the 45-minute procedure and can go back to work after only a few days with minimal to no bruising.

“It is by far our highest-satisfaction procedure,” Dr. Bryant says. “It gives the appearance of shedding years, and pounds, off a patient’s aging face and skin, and it does so in a way that looks natural and not artificial.” This procedure works well for men and women of all ages.

For those seeking to remove fat and contour their body in a completely noninvasive fashion, Dr. Bryant offers patients the fat freezing technology known as CoolSculpting.

“I’ve seen excellent results with CoolSculpting, and because it’s completely noninvasive, you can get back to your normal activities immediately [following the procedure],” he says. “There is no recovery time needed, and it results in an average of 20 to 25 percent fat reduction [in the treatment area] per treatment.

“People want to look and feel the best they possibly can, but age and lifestyles and even genes can get in the way,” Dr. Bryant continues. “Whether it’s to address an issue associated with their body, the face or their hair, we can help. We want to keep our patients looking and feeling the very best they can for their age.”

In addition to running a busy practice, Dr. Bryant serves on the clinical staff of Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he trains residents and works as a clinical practitioner several days a week. He also maintains his position as an associate of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Society of Liposuction Surgery.
