Such gloomy reactions are to be expected from a once happily married person who is now in the midst of a divorce. Furthermore, such reactions are understandable, as it has been said that a failed marriage feels like a death—and, in many ways, it is: A divorce represents the death of a once tender relationship, and, in a way, the death of the person you used to be.
