Dental Dream Team
D3 Dental, a Horsham-based arm of Dudhat Dental Group, builds on its ability to enhance smiles and improve the quality of life for a growing community.

A+. Amazing. Efficient. Painless. Pleasurable. Pore through the online reviews of D3 Dental in Horsham, and a theme emerges: Even the most phobic and apprehensive patients describe their experience with D3 Dental as uniformly excellent.

As the cornerstone of a high-end commercial plaza at the intersection of Horsham and Norristown roads, D3 Dental is part of Dudhat Dental Group, founded by Dilip N. Dudhat, D.M.D., DICOI. Each practice within the group has become known for providing a high level of care; it’s one of the reasons Dudhat Dental Group has earned a prestigious designation—“Official Dentist of the Philadelphia Eagles”—for the third consecutive year.

“Our practice has the skills, technology, and passion for dentistry to provide all services under one roof,” Dr. Dudhat adds. “We are very happy that the Eagles wanted to work with us for the third year in a row, and our patients should feel comfortable knowing that we will take care of them as well as we take care of members of the [Eagles] team.”

Led by Dr. Dudhat and Hadeel Shtawi, D.M.D., D.D.S., D3 Dental provides the full gamut of dentistry services to address virtually any concern, from routine cleanings and preventive care to complex procedures. D3 Dental provides everything from dental implants and full-mouth rehabilitations, to the Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure, or LANAP®, a minimally invasive procedure that employs a specialized laser to effectively treat periodontal disease.

Expertise and next-generation technology go hand in hand at D3 Dental. For example, the practice has further invested in its capabilities by adding the YOMI robotic dental implant system. The system is designed to provide a superior result by using robotic technology to place each implant under the direction of a seasoned clinician, according to Dr. Dudhat.

“The technology begins with a patient’s 3D X-rays so we know exactly where to place the implant,” he says. “I will then direct the robotic arm to place the implant in the precise spot, and at the proper depth, each time. This is brand-new technology, and we’re happy to use it if it leads to the patient having the best possible result.”

Technology isn’t the only area in which D3 Dental is investing in its future. The practice recently added a third clinician: Viviana Portillo, D.M.D.

After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Portillo completed her dental residency at Englewood Hospital in Englewood, New Jersey, just across the Hudson River from her hometown of New York City. She brings to the practice a wealth of experience, youthful energy, and an interest in cosmetic dentistry and dental surgery. In fact, she supplemented her training by completing a 300-hour continuing-education course focused on dental implants.

“I chose dentistry because I wanted to help people,” Dr. Portillo says. “I like the idea of providing continuity of care, restoring the empty spaces in a patient’s smile, and meeting their aesthetic aims. I also enjoy the personal aspects of dentistry. At Englewood Hospital, I treated people with disabilities, as well as children and elderly patients, so I feel confident being able to work with people of all ages and backgrounds. My goal is to provide everyone with the care they deserve.”

Dr. Portillo also has an interest in helping people in underserved areas. She has volunteered her dental skills to improve the quality of life for members of Philadelphia’s Latinx communities, and she intends to continue volunteering at clinics such as Puentas de Salud in the city’s Graduate Hospital neighborhood. In the meantime, she looks forward to building her practice alongside her fellow clinicians at D3 Dental.

“I have been impressed by the environment in the office and all the technology they have on board,” she says. “Based on what I have seen so far, it is the kind of practice where I would feel comfortable treating my own family.”

In turn, Dr. Dudhat feels that Dr. Portillo will fit in well at D3 Dental. He describes her as “an extremely caring person, passionate about high-end dentistry, and very interested in new technology.” Her addition will further enhance the practice’s ability to deliver comprehensive dental care to a growing patient population.

“Our practitioners all share the same mindset,” Dr. Dudhat says. “We were trained by three of the best universities known for turning out excellent dentists—Temple University for me, Tufts University for Dr. Shtawi, and the University of Pennsylvania for Dr. Portillo. Together we have combined experience of more than 32 years. We bring a ton of knowledge and skills to the table, and we look forward to meeting new patients.”
