Each person’s smile tells a story. For residents who live in or near Monroe Township, New Jersey, the team behind Pearl Dental Monroe ensures that the story behind every person’s smile has all the right building blocks—namely, healthy teeth and gums that blend aesthetics and functionality. Led by Murtaza Paghdiwala, D.M.D.—or “Dr. Pagri,” as patients know him—the practice strives to build healthy smiles through patient-centered relationships that last a lifetime.

Having grown up in the tri-state area, Dr. Pagri obtained his D.M.D. from Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry in Philadelphia. He later honed his craft with his father’s practice in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. When Dr. Pagri decided to branch out on his own, he saw the perfect opportunity in Pearl Dental Monroe, which has been a trusted name in the Monroe community for more than 20 years. He is immensely proud of the connections he has built since taking over the practice.

“We’ve built our reputation through patience and the desire to develop genuine relationships with our clients,” says Dr. Pagri. “Relationships are everything in health care, because it means I am able to protect my patients’ health into the future. That means long-term communication that goes beyond teeth, as well as investing in the business to make their visits fit into their lives.”

Technology has become a significant aspect of patient care, specifically as it relates to the planning and placement of dental implants. Through the likes of 3D X-ray, digital impressions, and 3D-printed impression guides, Dr. Pagri is able to make the process quicker and more precise, with the goal of providing a superior result.

“Dental implants are placed in the bone, but with our former 2D X-rays you couldn’t see the bone in its full dimension,” he explains. “The 3D X-ray enables us to determine how much bone the patient has to work with, then use digital impressions to develop a 3D-printed model. That model fits directly over the teeth, which means that we can place the implant exactly where it needs to be. It’s a lot more predictable, which makes healing and recovery easier for the patient.”

Dr. Pagri says technology has enhanced safety and predictability in all aspects of the practice, including preventive care and various aspects of cosmetic dentistry. Pearl Dental Monroe offers a wide range of in-office procedures, including clear aligner therapy, root canals, and metal-free crown and bridge treatments, as well as dental implants. The practice also specializes in tooth repair, or taking dentition that has “been through the wringer” and giving it new life. That includes zirconia crown replacements, tooth fillings that match the color of the tooth and are less noticeable, and cosmetic procedures that can reshape teeth that have been chipped or worn down by time and overuse.

As a result of its growing capabilities, the practice can keep patients’ mouths as healthy as possible. Its adoption of technology and pain-free techniques has helped to reduce or eliminate any anxiety patients might have about sitting in a dentist’s chair.

“I stress relationship-building a lot, because that’s what leads to a lifetime of good oral health,” says Dr. Pagri. “We make it our goal to be a place that our patients trust and go to for all their dental needs; we don’t want anyone to feel they have to drive all over the area for treatment, so we make it easier to get what you need to stay healthy. We also train our staff on the latest practices and technology in the field, and keep continuing education as an important part of our business.”

Dr. Pagri appreciates the trust his patients have afforded him and his staff. He understands the responsibility that comes from preserving—or, in some cases, resurrecting—smiles for patients from all corners of the Monroe community. It’s a responsibility he does not take lightly.

“We’re honored to be part of this community,” he adds. “Some of our patients started with us as teenagers and are now going out into the working world and continuing to come in once they’ve graduated high school, left college, gotten married. It’s like an extension of my own family, and it’s so rewarding to be part of something like that.”
