Chester County resident Brooke K. Dolan was in his early 60s in 2015, when he was diagnosed with a rare neurodegenerative disorder that would severely compromise his body in the years to come. As the disease progressed and it became clear he would need additional support at home, the family contacted Kadiatu “Kay” Syllah, the director of Kaydailycare HomeCare in Ardmore.

“Kay took care of multiple members of our family, starting with my grandfather eight years ago when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s,” says Brooke P. Dolan, the elder Brooke’s son. “We told her in 2016 that we wanted her to take care of my father when the time came; she and my dad just clicked. He felt like he could trust her quite a bit, and it worked out excellently. They became best friends.”

Dolan’s story underscores an important truth: While getting older is a privilege, the process comes with its share of challenges pertaining to health and mobility. Some of those challenges can be extraordinarily difficult, if not insurmountable, without sufficient in-home care. In many cases, the delivery of such care falls to family members or other loved ones. Doing so often requires a certain level of sacrifice, with ample time away from work, family, and other obligations.

Some caregivers have time only before or after work—early in the morning or late at night—which means their elderly loved ones spend much of each day alone and vulnerable. As a result, the situation can take a significant mental, physical, and emotional toll on both the caregiver and the individual in need of care. One might even go so far as to say that growing old has the potential to tax an aging person’s family almost as much as it does the aging person.

Syllah and her team at Kaydailycare HomeCare believe all older adults deserve to be cared for with dignity, kindness, and compassion. Furthermore, they believe the delivery of exceptional in-home care should not come at the expense of an individual’s family. Kaydailycare HomeCare offers reliable home-care services designed to enhance the quality of life for seniors who live in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.

Regarded as a top-rated home-care agency, Kaydailycare HomeCare has cultivated the resources needed to satisfy a wide range of client needs, including hourly in-home care, stay-in home care, emergency home care, postsurgical home care, and short-term respite care, as well as in-home care for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Care is tailored toward each client’s specific requirements. For example, someone in need of hourly in-home care may require assistance with light housekeeping, meal preparation, and companion errands, while another might need help with tasks of a more personal nature, such as dressing, bathing, and medication reminders.

Kaydailycare HomeCare strives to ensure that each client feels safe and at ease in their home. When recruiting new members to join its team of “Care Pros,” the organization vets each candidate based on their expertise, compassion, and dependability. Kaydailycare HomeCare utilizes artificial intelligence and other state-of-the-art tools to assist with scheduling, staffing, and retention, thereby ensuring reliable coverage. In other words, Kaydailycare HomeCare wants its clients and their families to know they will receive capable, trustworthy care when they need it.

As for the Dolan family in Chester County, Kay Syllah provided in-home care for Brooke K. Dolan for several years, as the disease slowly disabled his organs and stole his ability to speak or communicate altogether. In last month of his life, Syllah delivered stay-in home care until his recent passing at the age of 71.

“It was like having an additional member of the family taking care of Dad, because you can tell Kay really cared,” his son recalls. “Even though my father is no longer here, Kay is still coming by to check on us, particularly my mother. That’s a good indication of the kind of person Kay is.”
