The Way Forward
Navigating a divorce or some other challenging family law matter is never easy, but the right attorney can calm the chaos and facilitate a route to recovery and reinvention.
They say change is the only constant in life. In a marriage, when one partner grows or recedes in ways that outpace their mate, unaddressed changes can result in fissures that ultimately break the marriage apart.
It’s an all-too-common story. More than 2 million marriages occurred in the United States in 2022, according to a recent Forbes report, along with nearly 674,000 divorces and annulments in the 45 U.S. states that report such statistics.
When marriages fail, how the individuals involved fare afterward will depend largely on their decision making—everything from the legal team they hire to lead them through the process, to the means by which they choose to liquidate the marriage: mediation, collaborative divorce, or litigation.
A trusted family law attorney can do much more than fight on a client’s behalf; clients also rely on their attorneys to come to terms with the decisions, set realistic expectations for the divorce, and think about the future beyond the legal aspects of a marriage’s dissolution. Such an attorney will likely have a network of affiliated professionals—financial advisors, family therapists, life coaches, etc.—who can help clients recover from a financial, emotional, and spiritual perspective.
