Amos Ebersol has always been a creator, someone who has mastered the subtle art of crafting something out of nothing. As a designer with Honey Brook, Pennsylvania-based Master Design Cabinetry, he relishes the opportunity to conceive bespoke cabinets of uncommon excellence that reimagine homeowners’ most precious spaces.

“I love working the details in custom cabinetry,” says Amos, who had his own woodworking shop for 12 years before transitioning to custom cabinetry about a decade ago. “The details are what excite me the most about these kinds of projects. I just enjoy transforming someone’s bare walls into a beautiful living space.”

While skilled designers like Amos enable Master Design to manufacture cabinets for just about any room in the home, their work is most often associated with the home’s heart, otherwise known as the kitchen. Master Design’s cabinets are celebrated for their craftsmanship, durability, and high-quality materials, so it’s no surprise that they have the potential to recreate a kitchen as an elegant, personalized, and efficient space suited to each homeowner’s unique style and lifestyle.

Amos cites his recent design work within a newly built home in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. Besides the kitchen, his custom cabinetry extended to a butler’s pantry, a built-in pantry, a pair of bathrooms, and an upstairs laundry room. He particularly enjoyed the work he did in the kitchen, which included painted-maple cabinets, an island with white-oak cabinets, and a custom hood above the range, also fashioned out of white oak.

While many homeowners contact Master Design directly, the company is often brought into jobs through contractors, builders, and interior designers who are familiar with its reputation for excellence. In the instance of the home in Chester Springs, a representative from Homes By Heathcote LLC met with Master Design at a home show and was deeply impressed with the company’s work. The builder then enlisted Master Design to lend its unique brand of expertise to the project.

“This was new construction that was being built on spec, or without a specific buyer in mind,” Amos recalls. “The contractor wanted that custom feel that we’re known for, and they liked the fact that we could build the cabinets for any size or layout. Our design expertise was another big draw, because they wanted more of a higher-end style than what was available elsewhere.

“The final design was a collaboration between the contractor and me,” he continues. “We brainstormed how we could make this kitchen the most functional from his point of view and from mine. I particularly enjoyed working on the custom [range] hood, which required some tweaking to get the finished result where it needed to be.”

The project began in March 2023, when Master Design provided the initial estimate, and construction was completed by May 2024. That said, Amos expects to return to the home in the near future. Homes By Heathcote LLC has since sold the property, and the new homeowners have been so impressed with the quality of Master Design’s work that they would like Amos to take the lead on a new cabinetry project—this time for the home’s living room.
