Where Expert Dentistry Meets Genuine Care
Known for its next-level clinical expertise, innovative technology, and relaxed setting, Advanced Dentistry of Philadelphia, a Batra Dental Group practice, treats every patient like a member of a growing family.
There’s a certain kind of magic that happens inside Advanced Dentistry of Philadelphia, located in a bustling part of the city, right on the edge of Mount Airy. Even the most anxious patients become relaxed by the warmth and charm of a space that feels more like a home’s family room than an office, courtesy of the team led by Ash and Pallavi Batra, D.M.D.
“Ash and I have built this beautiful dream together,” Dr. Batra says of the practice. “He is the CEO of Batra Dental Group, and he’s very humble. He’s a cheerful person who likes to mix up with people, and that’s one of the reasons why the office has such a great atmosphere. Patients become his friends and are treated like family members.”
Advanced Dentistry of Philadelphia, which is one of five offices under the umbrella of Batra Dental Group, provides the full spectrum of general and cosmetic dentistry, from routine cleanings to full-mouth rehabilitations. The clinical team includes Dr. Batra as well as several associate dentists, all of whom work closely together.
Dr. Batra’s interest in dentistry stems back to an incident that occurred while she was growing up in India. Her father, a surgeon, lost several teeth in an accident. As dental specialists went about the work of restoring his smile, she saw how dramatically dentistry could change someone’s demeanor and, in turn, their life as a whole.
“Until then I wanted to become a physician,” she recalls. “I didn’t realize how important a smile was to someone’s life. After I saw the amazing things my father’s dentists did for him, I knew this is what I wanted to do to help people.”
Dr. Batra specializes in aspects of dentistry that not only fix teeth but also help patients feel whole again. Dental implants are a good example. Given her more than two decades of experience in dental implants, in most cases she can extract teeth and place implants the same day, and provide patients with temporary teeth until the implant site has healed. In other words, patients will not leave the office without teeth.
She also has a particular interest in periodontal disease, which can wreak havoc on a person’s oral health, as well as their overall health. That’s why she has invested the time and energy needed to become an expert in minimally invasive procedures she considers kinder, gentler, and more effective alternatives to treating the disease with cut-and-sew surgery: LANAP, or Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure, designed to save natural teeth; and LAPIP, or Laser-Assisted Peri-Implantitis Procedure, designed to save dental implants.
“These laser-based procedures are much less painful and expensive than the traditional surgeries,” she adds. “You’re saving time and money, but you’re also saving your teeth.”
The practice is also a Platinum Provider of Invisalign, which uses clear aligners to create beautiful, healthier smiles. Invisalign not only straightens patients’ teeth but also improves quality of life and prevents conditions such as periodontal disease from taking root. Dr. Batra recalls one patient, a blind woman in her 70s, whose misaligned teeth cut her lips and tongue when she talked. After completing Invisalign therapy, the patient “couldn’t be happier” with the result.
Advanced Dentistry of Philadelphia specializes in treating anxious patients. Dr. Batra recalls one recent patient who came to see her for significant dental work—including six root canals—needed for medical clearance prior to a lengthy hospital stay. Anxiety had kept the patient from seeing a dentist for more than 30 years, but Dr. Batra and her staff went to great lengths to prioritize his care and comfort. At the end of his treatment, the patient gave her a hug and cried tears of relief.
No matter the individual, Dr. Batra and her fellow clinicians listen carefully to each patient, discuss all their options, and then personalize every treatment plan. They do so with the assistance of advanced technology such as 3D imaging, iTero scanners, and digital impressions, all designed to make treatment more precise and limit the amount of time patients spend in the dental chair.
As for the future of Batra Dental Group, Dr. Batra and Ash have plans to add more offices to serve their growing patient population.
“We want to deliver the highest level of care, so we would consider growing as long as we don’t compromise that,” Dr. Batra adds. “We have patients from all over who say, ‘I wish you had an office closer to my home.’ When you hear that, it motivates you to give them another good practice closer to where they live.”
