Leading the Pack in Urgent Pet Care
The skilled clinicians and staff at Pets Furst Urgent Care in Langhorne provide comprehensive veterinary care for four-legged family members seven days a week.
Most people who have dogs and cats at home would likely describe their animals as more than just “pets.” Rather, their animals are companions and confidants, even beloved members of the family.
Much like any other family member, an animal’s health and happiness sometimes requires high-quality medical care. A capable and compassionate veterinarian will not only administer vaccines or treat the occasional injury, but also monitor a pet’s overall well-being, watch for early signs of illness that would otherwise go unnoticed, and provide guidance through every stage of a pet’s life.
That’s why so many residents of Langhorne and surrounding communities rely on the team of clinicians and staff at Pets Furst Urgent Care. A family-owned and operated practice, Pets Furst strives to help every animal in their care live a long, happy, and healthy life, treating them for illness, injury, and other non-life-threatening emergencies.
“We want pets and their owners to feel like they are members of our own family,” says Michael Rebbecchi Sr., who owns the Langhorne-based practice. “We can quickly and effectively help sick and healthy pets without sacrificing the quality of the medicine our highly qualified team of veterinarians practice.”
Pets Furst handles a variety of issues, including common ailments such as allergies, back pain, skin and ear infections, vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, and urinary tract infections, as well as humane euthanasia. The facility is also equipped to perform X-rays, urinalysis, fecal sample analysis, and bloodwork. Open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week, Pets Furst Urgent Care does not require an appointment; patients are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Convenience is the No. 1 priority at Pets Furst Urgent Care,” Rebbecchi says. “Even if an owner is not sure if Pets Furst Urgent Care is where they need to be with their pet, our friendly staff can help guide them to a local referral emergency center for them to get the necessary emergency care required to meet their needs.”
Pets Furst currently has four veterinarians on staff, including Jonas J. Colmer, VMD. Dr. Colmer feels fortunate to be able to provide owners in the area with a more convenient and affordable option for how their pets receive care for emergent needs.
“If their primary veterinarian is unable to accommodate them or their pet, especially if their four-legged family member became suddenly sick with a non-life-threatening emergency, we are happy to provide them with a great alternative to going to an emergency room,” Colmer says. “Our goal is to provide pets as well as their owners with a five-star experience. Our friendly staff offers a warm welcome into our open-concept veterinary practice. They should expect to be treated as members of our growing Pets Furst family.”
Dr. Colmer has long had an interest in alleviating pets’ pain due to orthopedic or neurologic issues. He gets immense satisfaction out of helping an owner identify the source of a pet’s injury and then creating short- and long-term treatment protocols to help the pet feel better as quickly as possible.
“To me, the most rewarding experiences have involved the successful treatments of the most common illnesses these dogs and cats usually present for,” he adds. “Clients enjoy being educated on how such issues can be prevented in the future or what they can do for maintenance to help their four-legged family member before it gets to the point of bringing them to the vet.”
Pets Furst’s clinical staff is expected to grow in the near future. Rebbecchi’s oldest son, Michael, will soon begin his third year at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. He intends to join the practice full time upon graduation in 2027.
Prioritizing Safety, Comfort, and Successful Recovery
From the moment a human and their animal companion enter Pets Furst, they are made to feel right at home. Bright and welcoming, the open-concept facility enables owners and pets to see the treatment room, the pharmacy, and doctor workstations on their way to an examination room. The Facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art scent system—the same that Disney uses, according to Rebbecchi—to ensure that there is always a fresh, clean aroma in the air.

“Upon meeting our doctors, diagnostic tests can be promptly started, if warranted, so our doctors can go over results with clients within 20 to 30 minutes,” he adds. “Even if diagnostics are not necessary to perform at the time of their visit, owners’ concerns are met with the utmost respect and attention so they can leave knowing their pets will feel better shortly after their visit.”
Pets Furst recently added a full surgery suite, enabling the practice to offer comprehensive surgical services; the practice can “do virtually everything except orthopedic surgeries,” Rebbecchi says. Besides spaying and neutering services, Pets Furst can perform amputations, cystotomies, enucleations, foreign-body surgery, and mass and tumor removals. It can also treat lacerations, as well as serious conditions such as a pyometra and gastric dilatation-volvulus, also known as GDV or bloat.
“At Pets Furst Urgent Care, we understand that surgery can be a stressful experience for both you and your pet,” Rebbecchi says. “That’s why our dedicated and highly qualified soft-tissue surgical team in Langhorne provides compassionate, expert surgical care in a safe, supportive environment. Whether your pet needs a routine procedure, like spaying or neutering, or a more complex soft-tissue surgery, we prioritize their comfort, safety, and successful recovery.”
Pets Furst aims to provide a more affordable option compared with corporate-run veterinary clinics and emergency hospitals. The practice also prioritizes communication and transparency with owners.
“Before surgery, our team will provide detailed pre-operative instructions, including fasting guidelines and any necessary medication adjustments, to make sure your pet is fully prepared,” Rebbecchi adds. “Prior to your pet’s procedure, we will perform a thorough presurgical exam, including any necessary bloodwork, to assess their overall health. While in our care, your pet will be closely monitored by our veterinary professionals. We use advanced anesthesia protocols tailored to each pet’s needs, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the procedure. Our experienced veterinarians perform surgeries with precision and attention to detail, keeping your pet’s well-being at the forefront.
“Once surgery is complete,” he continues, “we closely monitor your pet as they wake up from anesthesia in our designated recovery area, ensuring a smooth recovery process. You’ll receive personalized postoperative care instructions, including pain management options, wound care guidance, and activity restrictions to promote healing. Our team is always available to answer questions and provide support throughout your pet’s recovery journey.”
Rebbecchi and his colleagues are eager to continue growing the practice and, in the process, making a difference in the lives of more pets—and their owners—throughout Bucks County and the surrounding areas. Some people come to Pets Furst from as far away as Princeton, New Jersey.
“Our goal is to continue to grow as a family-owned veterinary practice,” Rebbecchi says. “We are in the process of expanding, which includes hiring more veterinarians and team members to accommodate the growing demand for our services in the area. We will continue to see more patients every day without sacrificing the utmost attention and quality of care we provide to our patients.”
