Fortune Favors the Bold
Known for its tenacity and responsiveness, the law firm founded by Alexandria Crouthamel widens its footprint to help more people navigate life’s most difficult moments.
The incoming phone calls and emails rarely stop flowing into Crouthamel Law Offices in Bethlehem. They come from people in dire need, some of them mired in full-blown crises—parents fighting for the right to spend time with their children, families navigating breakups, defendants desperate to retain their freedom, individuals seeking protection when their safety is in jeopardy.
Alexandria Crouthamel, the firm’s founder and lead attorney, never considers this state of constant urgency a burden; rather, she sees it as her purpose. Every call or email represents a moment when someone’s life has taken an unwanted turn, and her firm has built its reputation on stepping in—and stepping up—with clarity, confidence, and bold action.
What began as a boutique practice has expanded steadily and intentionally. Crouthamel Law’s legal team has grown to three attorneys—Crouthamel herself, Zaine Shetayh, and Jordyn Augustus—with a fourth attorney set to join the practice in mid-January. Such growth has been a natural response to rising demand. It has also enabled the firm to widen its footprint and expand its scope of legal services. While Crouthamel Law has built its reputation on family law and criminal defense, the firm has since acquired the expertise to represent clients in personal injury cases.
“These are people who need help solving the problems in front of them,” adds Crouthamel, who goes by Ally. “It can be difficult work because we’re dealing with things that affect people’s lives, but that’s why we enjoy doing it.”
Crouthamel Law serves clients not only throughout the Philadelphia area, but also in Carbon, Lehigh, and Northampton counties. The expansion has been swift but strategic. Since opening its doors, the firm has added one new attorney per year, a pace that shows no signs of slowing heading into 2026.
Recognition has followed. Crouthamel’s list of awards and honors is extensive and varied: inclusion in Super Lawyers; being named one of Lehigh Valley Style’s “Most Influential Women”; and a Four Under Forty Achievement Award from her alma mater, Alvernia University, to name just a few. In addition, her expertise has led to appearances on Court TV and TMZ, and she has been spotlighted in publications ranging from Forbes to The Wall Street Journal to Vogue. Perhaps the most surreal moment came recently, when her image appeared on a 22-story screen in New York City’s Times Square in recognition of her being named a distinguished biographee of Marquis Who’s Who.
Despite the national attention, the culture inside Crouthamel Law remains refreshingly personal and deliberately unique.
“One of the biggest differences about our firm is that we’re all female,” Crouthamel says. “We’re young and aggressive, but we’re also very fun and friendly; this isn’t some dusty, crusty old man’s office. All our attorneys are under the age of 35.”
Such youthful energy translates directly to how clients are treated. Responsiveness is nonnegotiable. Directness is expected. There is no legal theater, no vague promises, and no disappearing acts when clients call in need of case updates or the kindness of reassurance.
“We pride ourselves on our customer service; we don’t wait weeks to get back to people,” Crouthamel says. “All of us are straight shooters. If we’re going to lose a case, we’re going to tell you, and if we think you should move forward as you proceed down a certain path, we’re going to tell you that, too. We don’t sugarcoat anything.”
Honesty matters in a practice devoted to guiding clients through life-altering moments.
“No one calls our office happy,” Crouthamel adds. “They’re dealing with significant issues, serious issues. Maybe someone needs to get out of jail [after getting arrested for an alleged crime], or maybe a child needs to be reunited with a parent, or maybe someone needs protection from abuse. These are heartbreaking moments, but we get to see them end in positive moments, and that’s very rewarding.”
Crouthamel’s path to law was not inevitable. She initially imagined herself as a teacher and pursued a major in forensic science. An internship working alone in a laboratory for 40 hours a week made one thing clear: Isolation was not for her. Social by nature and driven by connection, she gravitated toward a profession where people—their stories, their lives—were at the center of the work.
Away from the firm, life is just as full. Family plays a central role, both personally and professionally—her mother, Susan, works at the firm, reinforcing its tight-knit, family-first culture. Crouthamel is also a mother herself, with one daughter and another on the way. She enjoys traveling when she can, balancing the demands of a growing practice with the demands of home life. Add to that a small farm and a “slew of animals.” Considering her many obligations, the guardrails of structure, discipline, and motivation are not optional.
“My life is incredibly busy,” she says, “but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
That same authenticity carries over to her growing presence online. A self-described “micro influencer” on TikTok, Crouthamel uses her platform to share legal insights as well as moments of levity—celebrating a birthday, sharing a success story, acknowledging the wonderful strangeness of seeing her face on a local billboard. It’s another extension of the firm’s philosophy: Lawyers should be neither inaccessible nor intimidating to the people they represent.
Inside Crouthamel Law’s Bethlehem office, signs of growth are afoot. The firm now occupies three suites, compared to the single suite it started with, even though team members have the flexibility to work remotely. Crouthamel sees more support staff hires on the horizon.
“We’re moving at a fast pace in terms of gaining clients, adding attorneys, and expanding our practice areas,” she adds. “These are good problems to have.”
As the firm continues to grow, its mission will remain unchanged: offering unrelenting client service, clear communication, and straightforward advice rooted in compassion, empathy, and results.
“A lot of people will tell me, ‘I don’t know how you do it all,’” Crouthamel says. “Running the firm, being a mom and a daughter, taking care of the farm, everything else, but I don’t know any different. I’ve always been very motivated to be the best, to help other people, and to help my team be the best they can be. We’re a new generation, and I think our approach has really resonated with people.”
