Remnants of a Turbulent Past?
Intense moments abound while investigating the mysterious lights of Hansell Road.
Just off Route 413 in the quiet stretches of Buckingham Township lies Hansell Road, one of Bucks County’s most deceptively peaceful lanes. Locals know better.
For decades, this narrow wood-lined road has been the setting for whispered stories: a translucent hitchhiker stepping into the path of startled drivers, shimmering lights drifting down from the treetops, and apparitions that dissolve into the darkness as quickly as they appear. It’s a place where history and mystery intertwine, and where, on a recent investigation, my team at Eric Mintel Investigates experienced one of the most unforgettable nights of our careers.
Hansell Road has long fascinated us. So when reports of increased activity began circulating again—lights in the branches, strange figures near the old cemetery, screams echoing from the woods—we decided it was time to return.
Joining me were spirit medium Dominic Sattele and cameraman Patrick Lilly, both veterans of unusual nights in the field. Still, nothing prepared us for what Hansell Road held in store.
Our plan was simple: push deeper into the woods than we had on any previous visit and attempt to capture the mysterious “ghost lights” that countless witnesses have described. Some say the lights move like intelligent beings, shaping themselves into silhouettes. Others believe they’re tied to the area’s rich history. Buckingham Township is steeped in significance, from its role in the Underground Railroad to visits by George Washington and Marquis de Lafayette. Many believe remnants of that turbulent past still linger in the landscape.
As Dominic and I headed into the woods, the atmosphere changed almost immediately. The deeper we walked, the heavier the air grew, as if the forest itself were exhaling onto us. Then our magnetometer spiked, hard. The display jumped off the charts, picking up an intense surge of energy concentrated near a patch of old growth not far from a long-abandoned cemetery. However, the infrared equipment we had to scan the woods saw nothing visibly out of place.
That’s when the first scream tore through the silence.
At first, I thought it might be a fox, as foxes can make some hair-raising noises. But the sound we heard was deeper, raw, almost human, and it came from somewhere close enough to stop all three of us in our tracks. We pressed on, carefully, though we could feel the environment tightening around us. Dominic whispered to me that something was shifting around us, something he could sense but not yet see.
That was enough for me. Experience has taught us that when the energy starts closing in like that, it’s time to regroup. We made our way out toward a more open clearing, giving ourselves room to recalibrate and to let Patrick reposition for better visibility. By then the woods were completely still, an eerie contrast to what we had just felt inside.
It wasn’t until we reviewed the footage later that the true shock hit.
On camera, clear as day, were two distinct lights descending from the treetops into the forest below. They weren’t streaks like meteors, and they weren’t distant airplane lights. These were close-range, appearing exactly where witnesses have claimed to see them for years. There were no houses, no vehicles, and no reflective surfaces anywhere near our position. And there was no lens flare; these lights had movement and direction. They looked deliberate.
In the video, which we later published on our YouTube channel, the lights drift downward in a smooth, almost controlled motion, disappearing behind the branches. It’s only a few seconds of footage, but enough to send chills through anyone who watches it. For us, it was confirmation of what we had always suspected: Something genuinely unexplained is happening on Hansell Road.
While we didn’t capture the legendary human-shaped figures others have reported, the combination of the magnetometer readings, the screams, the heavy atmospheric pressure, and the mysterious lights made this investigation one of the most intense we’ve ever conducted. Every element pointed to a phenomenon that doesn’t fit neatly into any category, paranormal, natural, or otherwise.
History leaves imprints, and Buckingham Township has seen its share. The land has absorbed centuries of triumph, fear, survival, and loss. If residual energy exists anywhere, it would be here.
Whatever we encountered that night on Hansell Road wasn’t ordinary. We walked into the woods expecting a typical investigation. What we found was something that felt intelligent, something watching, waiting, reacting.
In the new year, our team plans to return to Hansell Road with expanded equipment, new cameras, and a deeper dive into the cemetery and surrounding woods. The lights, the screams, the strange energy, they’re calling us back.
Hansell Road still has secrets. And we intend to uncover them.
