Although the phrase “You get only what you pay for” applies in most cases, Archer & Greiner P.C. is a notable exception to the rule.
A prominent regional law firm with local offices in the gleaming monolith of Philadelphia’s One Liberty Place, as well as throughout New Jersey, New York and Delaware, Archer & Greiner has earned its reputation for being not only one of the largest firms in the region, but also for possessing some of the most-skilled and best-credentialed attorneys anywhere. Perhaps surprisingly, however, such qualifications do not come at an exorbitant cost, especially when compared with other high-profile firms, according to Jeffrey Kolansky Esq., co-managing partner for Archer & Greiner’s Philadelphia office.
The full-service law firm of Archer & Greiner distinguishes itself in a highly competitive market through an intense focus on client service—and a favorable rate structure—to provide exceptional value. By continually committing resources to remain at the forefront of developing legal issues and technology, and by managing clients’ interests with an eye toward cost-effectiveness, the firm proactively meets the needs of a diverse list of clients served by six primary departments: litigation; real estate; labor and employment; corporate; tax, trusts and estates; and family law.
The firm’s staff comprises 208 attorneys and 47 paralegals in eight offices in Center City Philadelphia, New Jersey (Haddonfield, Hackensack, Princeton and Flemington), New York (Manhattan) and Delaware (Wilmington and Georgetown). As a result, Archer & Greiner has grown into one of the 15 largest firms in the Delaware Valley. In addition to its attorneys and paralegals, Archer & Greiner employs a support staff, as well as a number of interdisciplinary practice groups designed to provide the full measure of expertise for its clients, devoted to ensuring quality and cost-efficient service.
Archer & Greiner owes part of its growth and success to a January 2009 merger with Pelino & Lentz P.C., which brought several distinguished attorneys into the fold and also facilitated the expansion to One Liberty Place. The firm’s attorneys are regularly ranked among the region’s best and most qualified, including several who have earned “Super Lawyer” designations in Philadelphia magazine and “Awesome Attorney” nominations in Suburban Life. Although each of Archer & Greiner’s attorneys is well skilled at providing the highest-quality representation, the firm’s most notable face may well be Lynne M. Abraham.
A partner in Archer & Greiner’s Philadelphia office, Abraham focuses her practice on government relations, mediation, litigation and trial strategy and tactics, as well as appellate advocacy. She joined Archer & Greiner following a distinguished career in public service that began shortly after she graduated from Temple Law School in 1965. From 1991 to 2010, Abraham served as district attorney for Philadelphia—the first woman to hold the position. Originally appointed by Philadelphia judges in May 1991, she won election in November 1991 to an unexpired term and was re-elected to four consecutive four-year terms. Her 18-year tenure as district attorney remains the longest in the city’s modern history.
As leader of the largest prosecutor’s office in Pennsylvania and one of the largest in the nation, handling more than 75,000 cases a year, Abraham forged a reputation as a tough and effective yet compassionate protector of public safety for the city of Philadelphia. Before becoming DA, Abraham served as executive director of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority (1972 to 1973), legislative consultant for Philadelphia City Council (1974 to 1976), Philadelphia Municipal Court judge (1976 to 1980) and Philadelphia Common Pleas judge (1980 to 1991).
In addition, Archer & Greiner has hired lateral partners—namely, Carlton Johnson, former chief deputy city solicitor of the Civil Rights Unit for the City of Philadelphia; J. Bradford McIlvain, former deputy chair of Dilworth Paxson’s litigation department; and David Marion, a past chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association and a former partner with Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads LLP in Philadelphia, where he served as chairman for seven years—who have enhanced the firm’s profile and added to its long list of legal expertise.
Founded in 1928, the law firm of Archer & Greiner P.C. has maintained a simple yet powerful guiding principle first set in place more than 80 years ago—to establish a quality law firm that would serve as an alternative to the historically higher-cost firms of New York and Philadelphia, while providing the same quality and breadth of representation to its clients.
Based on the company’s internal mantra—“our firm’s success depends on our clients’ success”—as well as the testimonials of its many corporate and individual clients, the attorneys of Archer & Greiner appear to have a gift for continually rising to the occasion.
