As we age, our skin changes—it loses elasticity, even skintone and that youthful glow. For many, it’s impossible to avoid, but at The Institute for Laser and Aesthetic Medicine, you can reverse the appearance of aging skin and maintain a healthy, rejuvenated look for years.
To help you refresh the look and feel of your skin, Dr. Glenn DeBias, founder and medical director of The Institute, has welcomed Dr. Lisa Wolf to the practice’s King of Prussia location. She recognizes the value of non-surgical, minimal-downtime procedures for people with busy lifestyles who just want to look the best for their age. Her knowledge and understanding of The Institute’s most popular treatments, such as fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing, Smartlipo and Botox, makes her the ideal addition to the practice.
Here, Drs. DeBias and Wolf answers some of the most common questions people have about the laser treatments they perform at The Institute.
What treatment is right for me?
Whether we’re in our 30s, 40s, 50s or older, we often find ourselves looking in the mirror and noticing small changes we don’t like. Most patients aren’t looking for a huge change like a facelift, rhinoplasty or implants—they just want their skin to look the way it used to,
naturally radiant.
“Patients don’t desire to look 30 again, they just want to look refreshed for their age,” says Dr.Wolf.
A procedure like CO2 fractional laser skin resurfacing is being referred to as the anti-aging breakthrough of the decade. In 2004, Dr. DeBias pioneered the first fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing protocol, known worldwide as ActiveFX.
The quick and painless procedure can reduce the look of skin discoloration, scars, fine lines and wrinkles to get skin back to the desired appearance. By returning periodically for continuing treatments, you can keep aging skin at bay.
ActiveFX is a single treatment that provides significant, age-defying results. The main advantage compared to standard CO2 laser skin resurfacing is the decreased downtime and aftercare, which is only four to five days.
“Active FX is our most popular fractional procedure involving a 12 minute in-office procedure with four days of redness afterwards,” Dr. DeBias says. “The results are nothing less than spectacular with extremely high patient satisfaction. Most patients are so satisfied that they wind up coming back once or twice a year to repeat the procedure as a maintenance strategy.”
For problem areas, such as scars, dermal lesions and deeper wrinkles, DeepFX penetrates those areas for dramatic results.
The SmartXide laser with DOT Therapy is ideal for treating target areas of dyschromia, skin laxity and texture, wrinkles, dermal lesions, photoaging, acne scarring and scar reduction. Full results are typically noticed within two to four treatment sessions, held two to four weeks apart. Improvements should continue to be seen for six months following the final session.
Laser treatments also have proven results with spider veins on the face or body. These unsightly veins can be hereditary or the result of sun exposure, hormone therapy or aging. Removing them is easy and painless with a few short, non-invasive sessions with a laser that specifically targets spider veins.
The Institute is also the place to go for injectibles like Botox, Retylane and Juvederm. These quick, safe procedures can instantly fill out deep wrinkles, frown lines and brow lines leaving your face soft and smooth. Best of all, you will notice the improvement, but people will never know your secret.
Why is The Institute the best place for me?
The Institute for Laser and Aesthetic Medicine has two convenient locations in the Philadelphia suburbs—Doylestown and King of Prussia—and another office in Bethlehem. Dr. DeBias and Dr. Wolf have performed more than 100,000 cosmetic procedures combined.
The Institute has the most comprehensive collection of skin tightening and resurfacing devices in the Delaware Valley—and it owns more than 45 lasers and light sources. Unlike many other facilities, Dr. DeBias assures optimal outcomes based on depth of knowledge, skill level and the most effective technology.
Dr. DeBias is one of only a few physicians in the state who has earned the Diamond Status provider for Botox/Juvederm and a Double Platinum Status provider for Restylane/Dysport. He is also a current member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. Dr. DeBias is in the top 1 percent of physicians in the country and has trained hundreds of physicians, including Dr. Wolf, on his injection technique.
In order to accurately credential or qualify a potential treating aesthetic physician, you need to ask how many of these procedures they have done and how long they have been doing them. There is no board certification that is AMA or AOA recognized in this subspecialized area of medicine. “The doctors who consistently obtain the best results are most likely the ones that have the most experience and best technology,” says DeBias. “There is also a level of skill and art to round out the equation for optimal results.”
